A little about the ranch
The 6 Chicken Ranch was born in July 2022, sparked by a spirit of curiosity and a lifetime of entrepreneurship. After 30 years of owning and operating a sporting goods store, we semi-retired in December 2021 — but sitting still wasn't really our style. We started experimenting with our freeze dryers, trying out different candies, and the results were an instant hit with everyone who tried them. What began as a cottage business quickly grew into a full-time venture, with my husband and I back to working six or seven days a week doing what we love. In December 2023, we relocated to Madison, SD, and after getting settled, we picked right back up — and we haven't slowed down since.
What makes us special — Three decades of retail taught us that the details make all the difference, and that philosophy lives on in every batch we make. Today we run three freeze dryers out of our cottage kitchen, crafting candy, fruit, chocolate goodies, and more. Our kitchen is kept spotlessly clean and organized, and every single batch is taste tested before it ever gets packaged.
